A person named Dvij, approached to an astrologer and asked for a way out for his wishes to be fulfilled. Laxmi is the daughter of Puloman, the king of Asura. That is why she is also called Pulomi. She is daughter of Puloman and sister of other Asura. Asura`s dwelling place is netherworld. Lord Siva chopped Vinayak`s head and replaced it with Indra`s elephant head. Vinayak was a creation of Shakti (Parvati) without lord Shiva`s intervention.   Since Vinayak was created by Shakti, hence no one was able to control or defeat him except lord Shiva.
