Rama broke the Shiva`s bow to win the hand of Sita in the competition
was organized by King Janak for the marriage of his daughter Sita. The
competition was only to string the bow not to break. When the bow was broken, Parashuram
walked in and asked for the reason of breaking the bow. Parashuram was not
happy on breaking the bow. Hence, an argument took place at the time of the marriage
of Sita. Due to this argument, king Janak became unhappy. After marriage, Sita
and Ram reached Ayodhya. On reaching Ayodhya, reluctantly, king Darshath asked
Rama for 14 years forest exile to keep the words of his second wife Kaikeyi.
King Darshath was not happy with this decision, and due to this distress and culpability,
he died. Mistakenly, king Darshath had killed the parent devotee Sarvan Kumar.
Hence, parents of Sarvan Kumar were not happy. Son of Kaikeyi, Bharat, refused
to be a king of Ayodhya, for what she had asked Rama`s forest exile. Hence Kaikeyi
was not happy. Bharat was not happy with the immoral behavior of his mother.
Kausalya was not happy because her son, Rama, went for a forest exile along
with her sister-in-law without his own mistake. Laxman`s mother, Sumitra, was
not happy, because, Laxman went for a forest exile without any reason, mistake
or condition associated with him. Rama requested Sita to stay in the palace,
because the condition was with Rama not with Sita. But Sita went along with Rama, hence Rama was not happy with this.
After marriage, in place of the palace, Sita stayed in the forest and had to go
many fire ordeal, Angni Pariksha. Of course Sita was not happy with all these.
Many decisions taken Rama was not liked by Laxman, but he could not say anything
to maintain the tradition of Raghu Kul. He was also not happy. Laxman`s wife
was not happy, because, Laxman left a newly married bride alone for 14 years.
Sage Gautama was not happy, because, he saw his wife Ahalya
in the arms of Indra. Ahalya was not happy because, she was duped by Indra and
cursed by her husband. Monkey king Bali was not happy with his younger brother
Sugriva, and Surviga was not happy with his brother`s atrocity towards him. Tara
was wife of Brihsspati. She was very beautiful. Bali abducted her and made his
wife. After Bali, she became a wife of Sugriva. Hence, she was not happy. Bali`s
son, Anghad, fought for Rama, who was the killer of his father. He was also not
happy. Ravana abducted Sita, but he did not get what he was expecting from her,
hence, despite all the knowledge, power and vigor, Ravan was also not happy. Mandodri,
the wife of Ravana, was not happy with
Ravana for his behavior towards other women. Vibhishan was not happy with immoral
behavior of his brother Ravana.
Anjani, the mother of Hanuman, was not happy, because, she
conceived Hanuman deceitfully in the forest when she had renounced the world.
Hanuman was not happy, because, he incinerated Lanka without the authorization of
Rama. Hanuman never does anything without the permission of Rama. The subjects
of Ayodhaya were not pleased with Sita, and questioned on the chastity of Sita.
In order to make his subjects happy Rama banished Sita from his kingdom. With this
act, none of his family members and devotees, including himself and Sita, were
happy. When Balmiki came to know about this, he was not happy with this
decision of Rama to banish a pregnant wife in the woodland. Sita gave birth
twins Lav and Kush, when they came to know about their mother`s story, they
were not happy.
No one seems happy in Ramayana, still it is suggested to
keep and read Ramayana at home to keep the family happy and together… WHY ..and..
HOW…?
It is because of the sacrifice. Everyone is sacrificing one`s
life and reputation for keeping the words of others, that is RaghuKul Rit sada chali aayi , pran jaye par vachhan
na jayee( the tradition of Raghu clan – even lose your life but do not go
away from your words). Everyone got satisfaction in keeping the words and
promises. Rama left all the luxuries to keep his father`s word and banished
Sita to make his subjects happy. Pregnant Sita left the palace to keep the
words of her husband. King Dashrath sacrificed his life in keeping the pledge
of Kaikeyi. Bharat refused the throne for the respect of his brother Rama.
Laxman sacrificed his nuptial life for 14 years for his brother Rama. Laxman`s
wife, Urmila, sacrificed the association of her husband to keep the devotion
alive for his brother Rama. Hanuman sacrificed everything for the service of
Rama. Ravana abducted Sita for providing the solicitation to his sister, Supernekha.
Ravana`s brother, Kumbhkarana and Avran sacrificed their lives in keeping their
fidelity towards his brother. Vibhishan sacrificed his brother`s territory to
stay with Dhrama. In this way, almost every character was ready to sacrifice
his own happiness and life for his family or for others, no matter he is from
Rama`s side or Ravana`s side.
No one has any intention for the self, this makes
people to read and keep Ramayana at home to create the milieu for the sacrifice
for other`s happiness and satisfaction without complaining anything to keep the
family tradition alive.
